Computer AccountsStudent Computer AccountsYour username is the first four characters of your last name and the last four digits of your Student ID number. Then your password is your whole Student ID number. Logon Example: Name: Henry Jones Student ID number: 123456789 Username: jone6789 Password: 123456789 (If you have an aspostrophe ( ' ) in your last name,just leave it out.) Also if you have a space ( ) in your last name, just leave it out. MSC recommends that you change your password. After logging on to a campus computer press control, alt, delete and select change password. Changing your password on the computer changes it for computer login, email and Blackboard. Your student Home Directory is located either under "My Computer" as O:\ or by using the "My Documents" folder. Each student is allocated 50 MB of space. More can be allocated on an individual basis if needed. You must contact Computer Services in person to request more space. Passwords can be reset in person only. A current Murray State College Student ID will be required. Ardmore Higher Education students can contact the MSC office at AHEC. They can contact the I.T. Department on your behalf. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Employee Computer AccountsTo receive a MSC computer account you first must read and agree to the MSC Acceptable Usage Policy. Print out and sign this sheet and deliver it to the I.T. Department. Each employee has access to their departmental folder on Common and their Home Directory. Common is located under My Computer, Common on Enterprise or M:\. Home Directories are located under My Computer, username on Enterprise or N:\. MSC recommends that ALL files of importance are stored in/on one of these two networked directories. Both Common and Home Directories are backed up nightly with four weeks of archives stored in a safety deposit box. Remote access to Common and your Home Directory is provided by Cisco VPN. The Cisco VPN is located on Common > Cisco VPN. If you need help copying the files to a flash drive, come to the IT Dept. with your flash drive and we will help you copy the files to it. Or you may download the appropriate file below. You will need to unzip the files before installing. |
